Alps

I was in the Alps for a skiing holiday with friends many years ago. At that time, the Alps seemed to me like an area devastated by ski resorts and not much else. Until I noticed there was wildlife at the edges, and I started talking to locals about wildlife. I got tips on where to find animals, and soon, I started dreaming about photographing Alpine wildlife in their harsh winter environment. Erik, my brother-in-law, was in for it. We contacted Francois Hagenmuller, a local mountain guide and expert, and he learned us a lot about winter conditions in the Alps. In the following years, we went, again and again, to see and photograph wildlife, with our favourite subjects being the Alpine ibex and the recently reintroduced Lammergeier.
